What “Removed” Really Means
- ➡️ Your mom’s brother or sister → that’s your uncle or aunt.
- ➡️ Your mom’s sibling’s child → that’s your 1st cousin.
Now let’s add the “removeds”:
- Your 1st cousin’s child → your 1st cousin once removed (1× removed).
- ➡️ Because they’re 1 generation lower than you.
- That person’s child → your 1st cousin twice removed (2× removed).
- ➡️ Because they’re 2 generations lower than you.
- That person’s child → your 1st cousin three times removed (3× removed).
- ➡️ Because they’re 3 generations lower than you.
